Lights On! (Fall)
Lights On! is a national celebration to call attention to the importance of after school programs for America's children, families and communities. Lights On Afterschool! is an advocacy effort of Afterschool Alliance, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that all children have access to quality, affordable after school programs.This year Fort Worth After School will celebrate Lights On Afterschool! at VanZandt Guiin ES on October 24, 2019 from 5:30 - 6:30 pm. Please plan to join us as we celebrate 20 years of high quality afterschool enrichment programming!
Boat Regatta (Spring)
The Cardboard Boat Regatta challenges amateur boat builders to design, build and navigate boats made entirely of corrugated cardboard. Come and enjoy the fun as you watch the masterful maneuvers of boats braving the waves at Hurricane Harbor.Road Warrior (Spring)
Students build and race soapbox-like cars constructed of repuprosed materials. This STEM based activity encourages students to utilized their crtical thinking skills and creativity. Prizes are awarded for fastest cars, most creative and most safe vehicles. Come join us for all the fun!
Star Idol at Mayfest (Spring)
The purpose of Star Idol is to spotlight the array of outstanding performance from FWAS program sites. In conjunction with the City of Fort Worth this years’ event was held at Mayfest.1 Thing Better Leadership Camp (Spring)
Showcase of Stars commemorates a year of success by recognizing Shining Star Students from each Fort Worth After School program site. Each program site selects two stars that help make Fort Worth After School a success. Attitude, attendance, outstanding behavior, and most improved are among the criteria used to nominate a Shining Star. In addition, a salute to the community partners who have provided valuable volunteer/in-kind services to the after school program throughout the year. The shining moment in the evening is when each Star is presented the medal by a community dignitary.
