  Dr. Carlos L Walker, Sr. is a director for the Family Action Center. He has 18 years of experience as a substitute and classroom teacher, as well as a campus and central office administrator. His desire as a director at the Family Action Center is to provide families and community residents with the resources needed to live a productive life.

His personal motto is: “Unity in the community with a singleness of purpose, helping others to help themselves.” He received his AA in mathematics from San Diego City College, his BA in mathematics from the University of Texas at Arlington, his MA in educational administration from the University of North Texas, and his EED in educational leadership from the University of North Texas.

He serves on several boards and committees, including: Campfire First Texas Board, Girl Scouts of America; Generation Uplift; Unity in the Community; the REALE Organization; the ÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ´óÈ« Racial Equity Committee; and the Young Men's Leadership Academy Advisory Board.

  Nakia Cole serves as Coordinator V and is responsible for developing and facilitating the department’s community and grassroots activities. The FAC is one of Fort Worth ISD’s community initiatives designed to focus collective impact efforts on the high-needs schools in the district that need the most support and resources. 

She is a Certified Autism Specialist that offers services and support for people who have some form of autism.  She works in collaboration with stakeholders and organizations to assist clients with utilities, rent, hotel, trauma, behavior disorders, domestic violence, human trafficking and a plethora of available resources targeted to provide them with a hand up.

Her personal mantra is, “Meeting people where they are!”   She has a BS in Sociology and Criminal Justice from Abilene Christian University, a M.S in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Texas in Arlington, and is a Certified Autism Specialist-IBCCES. She serves on a variety of boards and committees, including: City of Fort Worth Teen Court; City of Fort Worth Community Action Partners District; Unity in the Community; Generation Uplift; Beyond the Badge; and the site-based decision-making teams at Sunrise E.S. and Jacquet M.S.

  Raquel McFadden serves as Coordinator V.  She is a graduate of Tarleton State University with a degree in Social Work and has an extensive background working with children and families in various communities and schools. She has worked as a resource and support for schools in many different capacities, including: bullying prevention programs; child abuse; working with teachers on understanding trauma; and teen pregnancy programs. She has 31 years of experience working with children and families who have experienced trauma and life challenges due to neglect. This includes working within the Tarrant County community and family court system advocating for children’s rights and safety.  

She is a Licensed Social Worker for the State of Texas and is a Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Practitioner through Texas Christian University. She has received certifications in Diversity Equity and Inclusion, Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR) Suicide Prevention, Child Placement Management, Safe Program, Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression (SAMA) trainer, and Parenting Consultant.  She works in collaboration with ÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ´óÈ« stakeholders to address student and family support needs, trauma, reading literacy, behavioral support and intervention, suicide prevention, homelessness, community health and wellness needs. 

Her favorite motivating chant is “Team Work makes the Dream Work.” Together we can help communities by offering support, guidance and help.  She is a Board Trustee for Forest Hill Library, Forest Hill Campaign Committee, Neighborhood Committee, Mental Health Connection Committee and a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

 Sharon Levy, LMSW, serves as a Social Worker II at the ÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ´óÈ« Family Action Center. She has more than 15 years of hands on, comprehensive experience in social services, which includes working with and advocating for abused women and children, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, the homeless population, and children in the foster care system. Prior to joining the FAC team, Sharon worked as a long-term substitute teacher, as a case manager, and as an Adolescent Pregnancy Services social worker under the Student Support Services department.

Sharon is a graduate of ÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ´óÈ«, and received an AA from Tarrant County College, her BA and MA in social work from the University of Texas at Arlington. She is a Licensed Master Social Worker in the state of Texas, and certified as a Youth Mental Health First Aide trainer. Sharon specializes in mental health, behavioral, and crisis interventions, building relationships, advocacy, and providing support and resources for families in crisis.

Her life’s motto is “You must be the change you wish to see in the world,” (Ghandi). This motto is lived out in her professional and personal life through her outreach work in the community,  educating religious leaders concerning the mental health stigma in the African American church, mentoring young girls, working with women survivors of domestic violence and the homeless population.
