Mission Statement – Student Engagement and School Completion

The Mission of the Department of Student Engagement and School Completion (SESC) is to engage all stakeholders by implementing initiatives to ensure all students graduate from high school fully prepared for college, career, or the military.  Fort Worth ISD’s Student Engagement and School Completion Department is based on a concept of prevention, intervention, and wraparound services to address the social, emotional, environmental, and behavioral needs of students and their families as it relates to truancy.  We strive to find ways to better serve the Fort Worth ISD community.  SESC  approach has a Restorative Practice approach to addressing issues of truancy.  Our focus is to return students back to the classroom.

Our staff includes 14 - Stay-In-School Coordinators (SISC), 1 - Court Coordinator, and administrative and clerical support staff.  We strive to find ways to better serve the Fort Worth Community.  Our approach to addressing issues of truancy is restorative.

    Goals

The Student Engagement and School Completion Department’s goals are designed to address the ongoing challenges that students face when presented with all the issues related to Truancy (Falling Out, being Pushed Out, or being Pulled Out).  Our objective is to address the underlining issues related to truancy and return the student back to the classroom and back on the path towards graduation.  These goals are measured by analyzing the long-term plan for the Department's impact and reduction in the number of students who fall out, are pulled out, and are pushed out of school while at the same time tracking the District’s Average Daily Attendance (ADA) and graduation rates.
