Happy Women’s History Month, ÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ´óÈ«! Here’s How We’re Celebrating

Throughout March, Fort Worth ISD will celebrate Women’s History Month. This period is dedicated to honoring the impact women have had on the culture of our district and the city.

Women’s History Month originated as a weeklong celebration tied to International Women’s Day, on March 8, back in 1978. In 1987, Congress passed a law declaring all of March Women’s History Month.

The foundation of Fort Worth ISD exists because of women. The first superintendent of the district was a woman. Some of the first school leaders of the district were women. Today, women comprise over 70% of the district’s staff, serving in roles from the classroom to the boardroom and setting examples for girls in the district.

Throughout the month, the district will spotlight Women’s History Month on our website , featuring daily themes:

  • Movie Star Monday: Learn about iconic women in film.

  • Team Tuesday: Get to know some of the incredible high school student athletes in ÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ´óÈ« and the records they’re breaking.

  • Wonder Women Wednesday: Incredible women in the history of Fort Worth ISD.

  • Trivia Thursday: Learn fun facts about the women of ÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ´óÈ«!

  • Firsts Friday: Read the stories of women who achieved firsts who are a product of Fort Worth ISD.

In the classroom, students will learn about trailblazing women who shaped our country and world into what it is today. If a campus is hosting a celebration or event, please notify the communications team so the district can promote your campus!

Fort Worth ISD is proud to celebrate and honor Women’s History Month and looks forward to sharing these inspiring stories with our community.
