Living Legend Opal Lee Kicks Off Black History Month as Career Day Keynote Speaker at Morningside Elementary!

Presentations from the Grandmother of Juneteenth, a state senator, a Texas Rangers broadcaster, Texas Ballet dancers, and a surprise helicopter landing on campus were just a few of the activities planned for Career Day at Morningside Elementary School. 

Career Day was Thursday, Feb. 1 and students heard from more than 30 local professionals throughout the day.  

Featured Career Day presenters included:

  • Dr. Angélica M. Ramsey, Fort Worth ISD Superintendent

  • Dr. Opal Lee, Grandmother of Juneteenth

  • Nicole Collier- District 95 Texas State House of Representatives member 

  • Eleno Ornelas- Texas Rangers Baseball Spanish radio broadcaster, interpreter

  • Texas Ballet Theater dancers

  • Wallace Bridges, ÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ´óÈ« District 4 trustee

  • Benjamin Morris, Animal Hope Inc. director and children’s author

This annual Career Fair exposes students to various professions and inspires them to consider future career aspirations.
