Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Julie Lourcey

Julie Lourcey teaches English Language Arts and Journalism classes. This is Lourcey´s third year at McLean Sixth Grade Center. Her favorite part of teaching is seeing kids grow as readers and writers.
¨Mclean Sixth is a great place because teachers care about students, and we empower kids to reach their potential," Lourcey said.

Lourcey attended Texas A&M University in College Station and earned a bachelor´s degree in journalism with a minor in English. She chose this college because she liked the spirit of Aggieland and the large university feel of the campus.
Loucey's certifications include: (6 12) English, Reading, Journalism, English Language Arts and English as a Second Language.
"Teaching runs in my family," Lourcey said. "My mother was a journalism teacher, and she inspired me to love writing and recognize the power of communication through writing."
In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering with the nonprofit FROGs, helping combat hunger and empowering youth  to help others. She enjoys dining at Charleston's, eating chicken fried steak, and spending time with her family and two rescue bichon frise dogs. Her favorite colors are yellow and green.
