Michael O´Brien teaches Science and has been teaching it for six years at McLean Sixth Grade; this is a total of 11 years including this year. He was inspired to teach because he wanted to do something meaningful for the community.

"I wanted to do something that was meaningful and had a greater purpose than sales. I knew several teachers at the time, so I spoke with them about teaching as a new career," O'Brien said. "I felt like it would be a good move for me; here I am 11 years later.¨ 

He attended college at Oklahoma State University and earned a degree in human environmental science. His certifications include Generalist 4-8 and English as a Second Language.

O´Brien enjoys teaching because of the opportunity  to show students the fun and interesting sides of science such as experiments, fun labs , and so much more.

In his spare time,  O´Brien likes to bike ride and read. His favorite color is blue, and his favorite food are tacos. His favorite sport is baseball, and he enjoys dining at the Spiral Diner.
