• Como Community Center College Conference 2024

Posted by Ms. Wilson on 4/29/2024

On April 27, 2024, from 11 to 2 pm, thirteen of our seniors attended The Future College Students Conference at The Como Center (Fort Worth, Texas).

While there, they learned and asked questions about college, careers, and trade school. They visited various vendors and some even started new financial ventures by opening bank accounts for the first time.

Our students were interested and involved. Many walked away with some pretty cool prizes as well as cash, totaling between $400 and $500 dollars just for their attendance and engagement.

Ms. Young, Mr. Medford, and Ms. Wilson(not a picture person) accompanied the young group and was rewarded with great behavior, lots of laughs, and lasting memories. Western Hills High School was represented very well and spoken very highly of. We showed up and left no crumbs.

These students will be adopted by a family, and they will be given an opportunity to win a scholarship on behalf of the Como Community. Winners will be announced, and each student will receive items from their adopted families on Dorm Day (1st Friday in August).

  • Lip Sync Battle

The Go Center will be hosting a Lip Sync Battle, and we would love it if you could help spread the word to the students to come sign up to participate in the event. We would even love it if we could have a teachers' group perform also. This will be a fundraiser for Decision Day so we can make each year better and better.

  • Ranger Game

Posted by Coach Murry on 9/15/2022

Last night was a very memorable night. The Go Center took 35 kids to see the Texas Rangers play against the Oakland A's, and for most of them it was their first time to actually hear "Play Ball" at the beginning of a baseball game. Even though we only got to stay until the 5th inning, they were enjoying every part of the game. They were cheering, clapping and just being kids and I loved seeing their excitement.

Thank you to the teachers that donated money to help feed the kids last night. We could not have done it without your help.
