The 2023-24 School Year is my 6th year at Dillow and as a school counselor. I grew up in Arkadelphia, Arkansas as the youngest of 6 children. Outside of my work life, I love to spend time with my family, play board/card games, dance, and do yard work. My husband and I have 3 children ages 19, 17, and 14. I believe that building healthy relationships is a foundational key to success. I am dedicated to working with students, parents, staff, and community members to see the “whole child” as we help students with their social, emotional, and academic needs.

El año escolar 2023-24 es mi sexto año en Dillow y como consejera escolar. Crecí en Arkadelphia, Arkansas, siendo el menor de 6 hermanos. Fuera de mi vida laboral, me encanta pasar tiempo con mi familia, jugar juegos de mesa y de cartas, bailar y trabajar en el jardín. Mi esposo y yo tenemos 3 hijos de 19, 17 y 14 años.  Creo que construir relaciones saludables es una clave fundamental para el éxito. Me dedico a trabajar con estudiantes, padres, personal y miembros de la comunidad para ver al "niño completo" mientras ayudamos a los estudiantes con sus necesidades sociales, emocionales y académicas.

Hello, my name is Mr. Gilliard, also known by many as “Mr. G” . I am a native New Yorker born and raised in Queens, New York . I currently hold a bachelors in Early Childhood Development . I’ve been in education for over 13 years . My current position is your Family Engagement Specialist, and my role as your specialist is to support all families, bridging the gap between home, school, and community!  I look forward to working with you to build a stronger partnership, giving you the tools necessary to become a community of lifelong learners! 

Hola, mi nombre es Sr. Gilliard, también conocido por muchos como "Mr. G”. Soy de Nueva York nacido y criado en Queens, Nueva York. Actualmente, tengo una licenciatura en Desarrollo Infantil. He estado en educación por más de 13 años. Mi puesto actual es ser su Especialista en Participación Familiar, y mi papel como su especialista es apoyar a todas las familias, cerrando la brecha entre el hogar, la escuela y la comunidad. ¡Espero trabajar con usted para construir una asociación más fuerte, brindándole las herramientas necesarias para convertirse en una comunidad de aprendizaje de por vida!

This is my second year as a Dyslexia Teacher and 21st year in education. I previously taught First Grade in Fort Worth ISD and was a K-2 Reading and Math Interventionist and Kindergarten/First Grade Teacher in Burleson ISD. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Texas Christian University. I also have a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with a Literacy Studies emphasis from University of Texas Arlington. I grew up in Connecticut and Dallas. I have 12 year old twins, Natalie and Dean. When not in the classroom, my husband and I love to explore our great city and travel! 

Este es mi segundo año como profesora de dislexia y mi 21º año en educación. Anteriormente enseñé primer grado en Fort Worth ISD y fui intervencionista de lectura y matemáticas de jardín de infantes a segundo grado y maestra de jardín de infantes/primer grado en Burleson ISD. Me gradué con una licenciatura en Educación Primaria y Temprana de la Texas Christian University. También tengo una Maestría en Currículo e Instrucción con énfasis en Estudios de Alfabetización de la Universidad de Texas Arlington. Crecí en Connecticut y Dallas. Tengo gemelos de 12 años, Natalie y Dean. Cuando no estamos en el aula, a mi esposo y a mí nos encanta explorar nuestra gran ciudad y viajar.
