Mrs. Rochelle Horton

Mrs. Horton was born and raised in Austin, Texas. She has a large family with 5 brothers and 1 sister. She attended the University of Texas at Austin and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education with a double major in English and History. Mrs. Horton began her professional teaching career in Houston ISD as a middle school English teacher and 3 years later moved to teach high school English. She moved closer to home and spent 8 years with Bastrop ISD. It was during this time that she earned a Master in Education Administration from Prairie View A&M University. While in Bastrop, she was a classroom teacher, curriculum facilitator, assistant principal, and principal. In 2003, she relocated to north Texas and took a position in Fort Worth ISD as the assistant principal at D. McRae Elementary School. The following year Mrs. Horton was named principal of S.S. Dillow Elementary where she served for 8 years. In 2012 she was moved to A.M. Pate Elementary School as the principal. She has been in education for a total of 30 years.  

 

Mrs. Horton loves Mickey Mouse and when you step into her office, you will see him everywhere. She loves music and has an immense collection that is shared with the staff and students. In her free time, her favorite things to do are traveling, shopping, and reading. She also enjoys horse-back riding and eating delicious food.
