Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books

  • What it is: Battle of the Books is a program that encourages students to read a set list of books (six books total). They then work together with other students to answer questions that all begin with, "In which book..."

When is it: Students can begin reading the books as soon as they are ready. The deadline to complete them is December 1st. In order to participate in our campus battle, students must finish at least four out of the six books. Our campus battle will take place during school one day the week before winter break.

Why: Battle of the books is a great way for students to get to know other students with similar interests in a safe and non-threatening environment. It also helps to expose them to different genres of books and promotes reading and literacy.

How: You can email dave.maxon@fwisd.org if your student is interested in participating or if you have any questions. Your student can also stop by the library to ask questions or sign-up.
