Our History

  • The Springdale section of Riverside was growing rapidly after World War II. In fact, it was one of the fastest growing neighborhoods in the city. Eleven temporary wood framed buildings were used until the existing building was opened in February 1954. That building was designed by Preston M. Geren's International Design. The building was two stories with entrances on the east and west ends. In 2004, Springdale started the school year with a new addition. It included ten new classrooms, a new library, and an enlarged cafeteria.  Springdale is currently receiving renovations to its original 1954 classrooms.

The school colors are royal blue and white, and our school mascot is the eagle. Springdale services Pre-Kindergarden through fifth grade. The students will then go to Riverside Middle School and Carter Riverside High School. Springdale has 575 students and is a Title I campus.

Our students have achieved the rating Recognized by TEA from 1998-2009. Our students also were honored with the title, Science Olympics Champions during the 2006-2007 school year.

Dear Springdale Families: Welcome to Springdale Elementary! First of all, my name is LeAnn Moreno and I want to introduce myself as the proud principal of Springdale Elementary School. Springdale Elementary is a family-oriented place with students, staff, and parents who take great pride in our school. One critical component of individual student and school-wide success is effective school to home communication. At Springdale Elementary, we have very high expectations for all of our students. While focus on the core academics is top priority, building a well-rounded citizen is critical to student success. Students must have the critical thinking, teamwork, and technological skills to be competitive in the ever evolving global economy. In order to achieve these goals, we realize that we need full support from our parental base and community. As a result, our collaborative efforts at Springdale Elementary continue to grow. I look forward to working with you this school year, By working together, we can form a partnership centered on high academic achievement that will allow our students to achieve their goals. Yours in Education, LeAnn Moreno

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the wonderful teachers, staff, and students here at Springdale. I earned a B.S. in Biology from the University of a Texas at Arlington, a B.S. in Information Technology at Devry and a Masters in Science Education and Administration from Texas Wesleyan. I have been in Fort Worth ISD since 1999.  I've taught middle school science and worked as a Lead Content Teacher for Dunbar 6th Grade Center.

I was also the recipient of the Radio Shack Teacher Scholar Award in 2003.  My favorite quote is,  “To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to leave the world a better place; to know even one life has breathed easier because you lived. This is to have succeeded.”
