Counselor’s Corner

Vision Statement

It is the mission of the School Counseling Program at Sam Rosen Elementary School to recognize the unique attributes of each student where the school counselor facilitates, empowers and nurtures students to succeed socially, educationally, and in their career development. This is accomplished by collaborating with other educators, families, students, as well as with members of the community. The counseling program maintains high expectations for all students; we aim to provide students with the skills to become effective life-long learners and productive members of their community.

六合彩资料大全 Me

I enjoy working with children and helping them grow academically, socially, and emotionally. As the school counselor, I am available to help you with any problems that might interfere with your child's learning. These problems may be academic concerns, such as study skills, motivation, or lack of organization. These concerns could also be social, such as lack of friends, insecurity, or not getting along. Personal or family problems can also cause worry and anxiety. My main goal is for students to feel secure and safe. Students need to feel that they are cared about at school on a day-to-day basis, and all of our staff works toward this goal. If there is any way that I can help your child, please feel free to call or email me at 817-814-4800 or Elizabeth.salazar@fwisd.org

The Role of The School Counselor

The professional school counselor is a certified/licensed educator trained in school counseling with unique qualifications and skills to address all students' academic, personal/social, and career development needs. Professional school counselors implement a comprehensive school counseling program that promotes and enhances student achievement. As a school counselor, I address the needs of all students through prevention and intervention programs.

Professional school counselors provide services to students, parents, school staff, and the community in the following areas:

*School Guidance Curriculum--structured lessons designed and appropriate for each developmental level (Topics include but not limited to bullying prevention, friendship skills, social skills, appropriate ways to communicate feelings, ways to promote kindness and compassion to others, stress management, goal setting/study skills/career development, etc.).

*Individual Student Planning--coordinate ongoing systemic activities designed to help students establish personal goals and develop future plans.

*Responsive Services--prevention and intervention activities such as individual/group counseling; consultation with parents, teachers, other educators; referrals to other school support services or community resources; peer help; etc.

*System Support--maintaining personal and professional development, consultation, collaboration, program management, and operations.

This year students can refer themselves for counseling by submitting a request to see the counselor.
