    Mrs. Widfeldt-Dyslexia

My name is Mrs. Widtfeldt.  I am a dyslexia teacher, a mother of 2, and an advocate for students who need a little extra help with their reading.  This is my 20th year of teaching reading.  I'm looking forward to a year full of growth and progress for our students!

    Mrs. Balandran-Instructional Coach

I am very excited to have joined the De Zavala family as a first-year instructional coach!  I have 5 years of teaching experience in the lower grades (1st, 2nd)  and 5 years in the upper grades (4th & 5th). I graduated from the University of North Texas in Bilingual Education, then got my master's in education (M.Ed.) in Curriculum and instruction with a minor in technology. My expertise is in literacy, writing, classroom management, and creating a positive/welcoming learning environment for all. I am a firm believer that EVERY child has a unique gift, every child can achieve & learn great things when given the right tools and opportunities, and every child needs someone to believe in them. I do miss the daily student-teacher interactions that take place in the classroom!  However, as an instructional coach, I have a greater opportunity to make an impact on student learning by helping our passionate teachers reflect and build on their own craft and capacity. I am an optimist who believes kindness, empathy, and respect go a long way, especially in today's world!
